Sindiswe Manqele admitted to stabbing Flabba whose real name is Nkululeko Habedi, purposely after a heated disagreement. “I stabbed him intentionally. The mistake was killing him,” she said.

The release of Sindiswe Manqele was made by a statement issued by the Department of correctional services.

According to the statement, Sindiswa completed all parole criteria, notably fulfilling the minimum period of her sentence. The statement further explained that the accused completed all of the department planned programs, and participated in the Victim-Offender Dialogue in 2018.

“Manqele takes responsibility for the offence she committed and is remorseful about it”, read the statement. The statement emphasized that Sindisiwe’s jail term is not over. “Manqele will complete the remainder of the sentence in the community of corrections, whereby she is expected to comply with a specific set of conditions and will be subject to supervision until her sentence expires on 23 May 2028”.

The granting of parole for Flabba‘s killer posed mixed emotions amongst the black Twitter community. Tweeps questioned the Department of Correctional Services and the country’s judicial system when they released a murderer who had served an eight-year sentence for her crime.
