French Montana and Kodak Black’s “Lockjaw” Goes Gold

French Montana and Kodak Black’s “Lockjaw” Goes Gold. In February of this year, French Montana released a song called “Lockjaw” featuring Florida phenomenon Kodak Black. The song picked up steam naturally, becoming hotter than the next single French would release.

Yesterday, Monday (Dec. 12) French revealed on instagram that “Lockjaw” and “No Shopping” (the single with Drake) have both been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. “Platinum by next week or two just wanted to put this up And thank the fans for all the support,” wrote French on IG.

According to Kodak, French was having some trouble writing the original hook for “Lockjaw,” so the teenage Pompano Beach rapper took over and wrote the chorus for what is now one of the best songs of the year.

“The beat came on, and [French] was trying to figure out the hook to it,” Kodak said at the time. “He was in the booth trying to go off the head with a melody to try and come up with something. I didn’t even really like how he was coming with it. I came up with something better in my head. So I told him to record me.”
