PH Raw Shares Iconic SA Hip Hop Albums Recorded At RAW X Studios. Renowned music producer and recording artist, PH Raw has been a massive contributor to SA hip-hop throughout the genre’s years of dominance.

In addition to fostering the talent of some prominent SA rappers we see today, PH Raw has also played a pivotal role in the creation of some iconic albums within the SA hip-hop sphere. Speaking during an interview on Slikour On Life, the famed producer and rapper was asked to name some of the stand-out albums he made at his famous RAW X Studios.

“Tell us about the most iconic albums that were recorded at PH Raw X Studios.” In response, PH said he recorded Khuli Chana’s, AKA‘s and K.O’s career-defining albums. “Lost In Time, Skhanda Republic, I mean really the best albums in South Africa. Lost In Time, Skhanda Republic and Altar Ego,” he said.

When asked about his journey to becoming a respected figure in South African hip-hop, PH Raw explained that he achieved his reputation by diligently investing in himself. “I invested in myself, I used to work 9 to 5 when I was producing Khuli Chana’s album. For two years I was working 9 to 5, 5 to 3 o’clock in the morning, I was doing studio, 6:00 go to work. For two years I did that, taking my money from work and investing it in the studio and building the studio.” He said.

He added; “I knew I had to have something to sell in beats, like a place where people can come. I used to go around the biggest studios, they were too big and too much rules didn’t really accommodate hip-hop artists. Hip-hop artists have a certain culture when they are in the studio, so I wanted a home for hip hop so invested in the studio, my parents helped me build that and that was that.”
