Recently, Sjava rocked the internet following the highly-anticipated album release Isibuko. The rapper received respect from most SA music lovers praising him for the wonderful job he did on his newly released body of work.

Taking to Twitter, Rashid Kay lamented that cancel culture wanted to rob the country of a great and talented artist in Sjava. “Cancel Culture almost robbed us a National Treasure #Isibuko #Sjava,” tweeted Rashid Kay.

In a press release shared on Zaleb,  Sjava explained Isibuko, describing it as a mirror that reflects on his background and the path he travelled as a musician.

“This album is a reflection of my journey over the last few years and speaks to my experiences and growth as a person and as a musician. Musically it is a continuation of the process that began with the Umsebenzi EP/Deluxe, and I hope my supporters enjoy the body of work.

“I know it’s been a while, but I trust that the album will be worth the wait. Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the last eight years of my career, and I look forward to continuing this musical journey together in the future,” he said.

Sjava was charged with sexual assault when Lady Zamar initiated a rape case in 2017 at a hotel in Thohoyondou, Limpopo, after a concert. Sjava maintained his innocence once the charges were made against him. He uploaded a video in 2020 in which he stated that he was not a rapist.
