DJ Speedsta Breaks Down The Concept Of The “Hip Hop Floor.” In an effort to sustain the Hip Hop culture in South Africa, DJ Speedsta initiated the Hip Hop Floor—a gathering space where he and fellow young adults convene to simply hang out and immerse themselves in the sounds of hip-hop music.

DJ Speedsta, recognized for his pioneering contributions to the South African hip-hop scene, has long been known for his innovative approaches to DJing and music production. The concept of the “Hip Hop Floor” emerges from his deep understanding of both the technical and cultural aspects of hip-hop music.

Explaining the concept, Speedsta elucidates that the “Hip Hop Floor” encapsulates more than just a physical space. It symbolizes a collective energy, a vibe, and a state of mind that permeates through both the music and the audience all for the culture.

“What is the Hip Hop Floor? The Hip Hop Floor is basically a new space that I’ve created starting off in Johannesburg, a Hip Hop space that is,” he said. “I think there’s a lot of Hip Hop spaces that exist within the city, but to be honest with you they are all very youthful, very mosh pit, scrrr scrrr jump up and down.

So I’m just trying to, number 1 grow with my people at my age, build a creative space where girls can feel comfortable, young working adults can come and hang out and just listen Hip Hop because I dont think there are any more spaces like that in the city so yeah that’s what the Hip Hop Floor is”, he added.

With the upcoming Hip Hop Floor gathering scheduled for Saturday, March 16, 2024 at The Beach in Braamfontein, the renowned DJ strongly recommends that all attendees secure their tickets in advance, as only 50 tickets will be available for men and the rest for women.
