In his quest to allow his fans to have a sneak peek of the behind-the-scenes of his upbringing and the people involved in his success, the BET award-winning rapper presented a documentary from his childhood to his successful musical career.

Taking to Twitter, Sjava announced to his fans a documentary titled The Evolution Of Sjava. “Sanibonani ngicela ukunethulela nayi iDocumentary ebheka kafushane impilo yami. It’s live now on YouTube I hope nizoyithokozela https://youtu.be/-lGplXAwpYg,” which translates to; “Hello, I would like to present to you a Documentary that briefly looks at my life.”

Sjava shared how he managed to dabble in both rap and Maskandi in his quest for a breakthrough in the SA music industry. “I think when I fell in love with hip-hop that’s when I got to understand better. That we are one and the same thing because I was playing a lot of Maskandi when I arrived in Joburg. Played a lot of Maskand and Scathamiya,” he said.

Not only did he accomplish success on his own, but with the support of Producer Ruff, Sjava was able to find his own sound and acquire a large fanbase. “Sjava was a rapper and an actor, so they pulled up, they recorded a song with Gaba Gaba, it was quite okay. Like it was just okay, you know, Ruff said. In 2014 I went to a flat where Sjava used to stay with Vuyo Manyike.

In 2014 we did Seven, that was the first track. We thought let’s just try something and see. Then the second track was Uthando, from then I was like forget, this is it, this is you, bro, forget about rapping you see you are nice with these raps. But this is your money. Because no one sounds like you,” Ruff said.
