“We have more serious crimes” – Reason Laments The Tobacco Bill

Taking to Twitter, rapper and amapiano sensation, Reason made it known to his followers about the bill that was introduced to arrest cigarette smokers. The rapper shared a video criticizing the bill and the authorities for not focusing on serious crimes.

This has to be some kinda joke. I just came across the new tobacco Bill that they wanna pass in our country. Surely we have more serious crimes?? We need to start signing this petition ASAP. #StopTheTobOaccoBill https://stopthebill.co.za,” tweeted Reason.

In the video Reason said; “South Africa is crazy, ladies and gentlemen I would like to introduce you to something new that I’ve just found out about, it’s called the Tobacco Bill.” The rapper went on to explain the intel that comes with the Bill.

“The Tobacco Bill goes as follows, (“you can go to jail for 3 months if you smoke in your own home or townhouse complex and interferes with other people with other people within the premises”).

“So if I’m chilling at home and smoking and then my smoke goes out the window and it hits somebody who doesn’t smoke I can go to jail for 3 months,” said Reason. Sizwe Alakine went on to clarify some of the provisions in the law, saying: “If your home is used as a workplace, like me and my friends decide hey let’s stay indoors and just bangs some workout, using your home as a workplace you can go to jail up to 5 years,” he said reading from the bill.

Reason went on to challenge the bill, criticizing the onerous circumstances imposed on cigarette smokers. “Why are we talking about jail for cigarette smokers, like why are we talking about jail, why are you trying to take people who just want to smoke to jail like why? Why can’t we take real criminals to jail, why can’t we find the people that shot my friend and take them to jail, why are we taking smokers to jail?” He said.
