Freestyle Drama Far From Over As DJ Speedsta Criticises K.Keed’s Latest Release

The ongoing tension between DJ Speedsta and rapper K.Keed intensified today, following the release of K.Keed’s new single “Galileo” and a sharp response from Speedsta on social media.
Earlier today, K.Keed unveiled her latest single titled “Galileo.” The release comes amid heightened attention on her artistic direction and the ongoing public exchanges with DJ Speedsta.
Shortly after the launch of “Galileo,” DJ Speedsta took to his X (formerly Twitter) account with a pointed post directed at K.Keed. The DJ wrote:
“I’ve sent Keed a message on the side. The songs she’s dropping unfortunately aren’t strong enough to back her arrogance. Can’t hear a single word. Just take your L and get out of here!”
This statement adds a new layer to an already unfolding disagreement between the two artists.
This latest exchange follows a series of public interactions between the two artists, which began earlier this month after K.Keed appeared on 5FM’s 5 Hip Hop Nights. During the interview, DJ Speedsta asked K.Keed to perform a freestyle live on air. The rapper declined and the moment sparked a flurry of online debate and criticism, with many weighing in on whether freestyle performances should still be seen as essential in evaluating an artist’s legitimacy in hip hop.
Shortly after the interview, K.Keed took to social media to address the incident. In a post shared on her platform, she responded by saying she hoped the “clickbait was worth it” and wished DJ Speedsta a sarcastic “Happy Women’s Month.”,” attaching a preview of a then-unreleased track titled Harsh Truths.
DJ Speedsta responded publicly by resharing the post and mocking K.Keed’s tone. He wrote that she was “definitely dizzy,” followed by a laughing emoji and a dismissive comment about her claim of clickbait.
In a later appearance on the Podcast and Chill Network, DJ Speedsta revealed that a planned music video for their collaboration track Take iT Easy, which features K.Keed on his album, had been shelved.
The feud has since become one of the most talked-about narratives in South African hip hop this month, prompting wider industry discussion around generational differences in expectations.
With ‘Galileo’ now out and Speedsta once again voicing his disapproval, the dispute between the two artists appears to be far from over. It remains to be seen whether either party will seek to resolve the tension, or whether the issue will continue to play out in music and media.
