Since releasing the Royal School of Hip Hop with his two high school best friends as Entity, Kiernan Forbes (AKA) has come a long way. He established himself as one of the biggest rapstars in the country and after 1 year of being on the shelves Levels became the first English Rap album to ever go gold.

18. iFani With I Believes In Me

His album I Believes in Me (1st quadrant) will quite literally crack you up and add some truth to the stereotype that Xhosa guys are the funniest. An album with a few English words peppered here and there it obviously alienates groups that don’t understand the Xhosa language but in a genre that uses American hip-hop as a blueprint, his choice to make his album exclusively vernacular makes it original, adding a local flavor to a genre starving of it.

19. Riky Rick With Family Values

Family Values turned out to be a deeply personal, sometimes uncomfortable, experience. It was raw in a way most of us aren’t accustomed to anymore – Riky told his story and shared his fears, regrets and sorrows and by the time the first dance/hype track came on I was personally too emotional to even vibe to it.

20. Jack Parrow With Eksie Ou
