“I’m not a gangster rapper,” YoungstaCPT Sets The Record Straight

“I’m not a gangster rapper,” YoungstaCPT Sets The Record Straight. In South Africa there’s a stereotype about coloured people that they are gangsters. This notion led many to refer to YoungstaCPT as not just a rapper but a “gangster” rapper.

YoungstaCPT made it clear that he raps about reality, the reality he has been exposed to and the one people choose to ignore. His previous album 3T is a musical collection which depicts that reality. His songs are mostly about giving people a perception of his outlook in life, his struggles and being the voice of his race.

A tweep wrote that “Youngsta is the only gangster rapper in SA,” clearly it was meant as a compliment but he had to correct him. “I’m not a gangster rapper, I’m a reality rapper.”

Despite defending his title the rapper has been busy with his music, recently he released a music video for his single Old Kaapie. The video might have given an impression that he was a gangster but the lyrics say otherwise.
