Taking to Twitter, Courtanaé Paul has shared some exciting news with her fan base after highlighting that she has been nominated for the Breaker Of The Year at the upcoming Dance Awards in South Africa.

I’ve been nominated for Breaker Of The Year ? You can vote here: https://submit.jotform.com/220362595126555 ❤❤❤,” she wrote.

Courtanaé represented South Africa at the Red Bull BC One World Final in Poland last year. Before mapping her way to the final in Poland. The acclaimed dancer mentioned that she is ready to present South Africa on the big stage and for her, it’s not about proving but doing it for the pride of her nation.

“I had mapped out exactly what I had wanted to do and then you get here and the floor is not what you thought it would be, but I take pride in being able to adapt.

From what I’ve seen, the BC One World Final is insane, I can only hope that the Covid-19 can give me the opportunity to be there. For me it’s no longer about proving anything, it’s about showing up, it’s about representing South Africa the best way that I can.” She said.

Paul has contributed a lot to the SA hip hop game releasing her debut DJ EP featuring Holly Rey, Gigi LaMayne, Moozlie, Manu WorldStar, Benny Afroe and Boskasie. When it comes to her music Paul has only been DJing for six or seven years.

In the hip hop space, breaking and DJing are the biggest part of the culture. I‘ve always been someone to experiment. I will always try something because you never know if you’re going to like it or not.

“It was a combination of realising people liked what I was doing and opportunities were coming up. There were very few female hip hop DJs in the space and I love that kind of challenge so it was something I knew I was going to do.” Said Paul.
