The SA Hip Hop community is a tightknit community that always supports one of its members when they’re down. Recently the community was struck with tragedy after the passing of AKA‘s fiancée Nellie Tembe.

AKA recently broke his silence and released a statement about Nellie’s passing. In the statement he mentioned that he is heartbroken at the unfulfilled life they had planned together. He continued to say that Nellie’s passing has taken a great toll on him and insinuations and innuendos made on his personhood have made it more difficult for him and his family to process.

He thanked his business associates, industry peers, friends and his fans for their support in this difficult time. SA Hip Hop members rallied in the comments of AKA‘s post to show their support for the successful rapper as he mourns his fiancée Nellie.

Zulu Mkhathini commented that the rapper should take his time and sent prayers to him and his family. Tumi Tladi mentioned that everyone is here for him with DJ Dimplez saying the rapper should keep his head up. Costa Titch, DJ Speedsta and Flvme all commented hearts on the rapper’s post.

Anele “Nellie” Tembe tragically lost her life on the 11th of April 2021 when it was reported that she fell from the 10th floor of popular Cape Town hotel, the PepperClub. She was laid to rest on Friday, the 16th of April 2021.
