An Update On The Ongoing Legal Battle Of HHP Estate Between Family & Wife

An Update On The Legal Battle Of HHP Estate Between Family & Wife. The passing of Hip hop artist Jabulani Tsambo didn’t only bring sorrow and evoke pain, but it caused a rift between his customary wife Lerato Sengadi and his family.

Leading to the funeral of the Tswaka rapper the Tsambo family and Sengadi took each other to court. The family was arguing that Lerato was not HHP’s wife and refused her involvement on the preparations of the funeral.

To the luck of the social media influencer, she won the case. Her victory wasn’t lived long enough as the family appealed the matter to the Supreme Court. The fight is still to discredit her as Jabulani’s legitimate wife.

After the funeral another legal issue rose. The will read by the authorities stated only HHP’s son Leano as the person to inherit his estate. Sengadi was unsettled by the will and decided to take matters to court. Basically she felt deserving of what the rapper owned as his wife.

The Tsambo family spokesperson Nkululeko Ncana confirmed that HHP left everything for Leano.

“I can confirm that Jabulani has bestowed everything to Leano,” he said.

According to SowetanLIVE The executive from a well-known record company said that the will includes HHP’s multimillion-rand house, image rights, a multimillion-rand music catalogue and royalties from his television and radio stations.

“The battle between Lerato [Sengadi] and the family is not only about wether or not she is the customary wife, it is about the estate as well. If Lerato wins this case at the Supreme Court of Appeal, she is, according to the law, entitled to 50percent of his estate,” said the executive.

Joburg-based Isaac Raphela of Raphela Attorneys said Sengadi would be entitled to a share of HHP ‘s estate if the Supreme Court of Appeal rules in her favour.

“If the deceased has disinherited her and the Supreme Court of Appeal finds in her favour and declares her the customary wife, she will be entitled to a share of the estate as decreed by the Spousal Estate Act,” adds the excuetive who didn’t want to be named.

Speaking on the case on her interview from last week Sengadi expressed how exhausting the ongoing case has been.

“It’s emotionally, spiritually, physically draining. It’s been a very painful 18 months wherein I’ve had to deal with legal issues, when I’m supposed to be trying to grieve and figure out what my life looks like without the love of my life, my best friend – someone I had planned a whole future with.

“I’ve had to put that healing on a back burner in order to focus on getting my rights as his wife,” said Lerato.

Nkululeko Ncana told TshisaLIVE that the family trusted that the judges would deliver a just and fair decision.

“The SCA has reserved judgment. The SCA bench heard arguments related to the matter. We are indebted to our courts and trust that the honourable judges will deliver a just and fair decision,” he said.
