The famed rapper has never shied away from his love to be part of the amapiano genre. The rapper made it clear that there is no reason to be pushing an American sound when artists can actually do more to push the local sound.

Despite jumping into the Amapiano sounds with a new stage name “Sizwe Alakine,” the Do It Like I Can hitmaker has made it known that the stage name “Reason” will never go away. In an interview with SowetanLive publication, the Sizwe Alakine stated that he can rap on an Amapiano rhythm, indicating that he is still tied to the rap culture for which he is well known.

“A lot of people know Reason as an iconic rapper in the hip-hop culture, so I’d never disappear or leave that genre. What many aren’t aware of though is that Sizwe Alakine also raps but on an amapiano beat,” he said. “I might surprise you and feature Sizwe Alakine on Reason’s songs… who knows?” Reason revealed.

Reason recently penned a record deal with Warner Music South Africa and he revealed that the aim is to take the South African sound to the global stage. The father of two mentioned that working with Warner will open more opportunities for him as he looks forward to growing both Reason and Sizwe Alakine as a brand.

“I’ve been looking for the best deal for me and my legacy for the past five years,” he said. “After all that I’ve done independently, I needed to work with a company that could do more for me than I could for myself. Warner has committed to growing both the Reason and Sizwe Alakine brand in ways that now on else could and I’m excited for the line of great music and creative we have lined up.”  He said.
