Tweezy Reveals How Much AKA Paid Him On His Come-Up As A Producer

The Durban-born rapper and producer solidified his reputation in South African hip-hop as the creator of the majority of AKA’s popular songs. Tweezy clearly convinced the public of his skills as an enthusiastic hitmaker with All Eyes On Me, Run Jozi and Sim Dope.

During an interview on Choppin It With Bhuda T with Zingah, Tweezy took time to appreciate AKA for contributing to his successful career as a Producer. The Day One hitmaker also revealed an incident when AKA paid him R2K alluding that most Producers dont know how to charge artists.

“Im sure even Producers right now are still struggling with this thing where it’s like, n*ggas dont know how to charge, they dont know how to manoeuvre those kinds of conversations,” he said. “The problem at that time specifically, I dont know about now. You see as Producers, first and foremost you’re coming from a point where you dont know how the business sense works, in a sense you dont know how to charge n*ggas, how to make your money.

Tweezy went on to talk about an occasion in which he intended to charge AKA but couldn’t because he was still a rookie. “Crazy story, there was a time when I and Kiernan were chatting outside like okay cool so let’s have the chop now, so how much am I looking at here,” AKA asked as per Tweezy. “I’m like dawg, now in my mind I’m like yo, I have never done this, especially on this level and this is Kiernan.”

“So I’m like how much do you usually charge, he’s like nah, I think he wanted to see. I mean something in my mind was like go for the 5K, I’m like 5K, and he was like yo, 5K for a come up n*gga?” Tweezy said. The famed Producer revealed that he went on to explain to AKA that he doesn’t know how to charge with the late rapper ending up paying him 2K.

“I was like look big dawg, let me be honest with you, I dont know how this sh*t works, I just threw in the 5K because I dont know, I dont even know if you are whipping me or not. He started telling me about his time when he was a producer and how he was charging Pro Kid 1K, and they divide it with Ivy League. He was like let me give you the 2K” Tweezy added.
