“Lapisa” Goes Gold As Rush-Awa Debut Album Drops

“Lapisa” Goes Gold As Rush-Awa Debut Album Drops. SA hip-hop production duo Rush-Awa, comprising MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe, have marked a major milestone with the gold certification of their hit single “Lapisa”, announced on the same day their highly anticipated self-titled debut album arrived on streaming platforms.

The duo shared the news with fans through a celebratory post, writing, “LAPISA WENT GOLD. RUSH-AWA ALBUM MIDNIGHT ㊙️🏆 Siyabonga kakhulu ❤️.” The announcement brought two significant moments together, recognising the success of a standout single while introducing their first full-length project as a production duo.
Released on 5 June 2026, “Lapisa” features Dolphin_DX, LaCabra and Lowfeye, with production by MashBeatz, DJ Sliqe and CrxigCreates. Driven by hard-hitting drums, township influences and a memorable Zulu hook, the track quickly established itself as a crowd favourite. Its official music video, directed by Southmadeit, surpassed one million YouTube views within a month, further strengthening the song’s reach.
The gold certification adds another achievement to the record’s growing success, arriving as Rush-Awa expand their collaborative vision with a 15-track debut album. The self-titled project brings together artists from different generations and corners of South African hip-hop, placing collaboration at the centre of its identity.
Among the album’s notable tracks is “Streetz”, featuring Blxckie, Nasty C and Usimamane. “Chocolate 2by2” brings together 25K, Blxckie and Maglera Doe Boy, while “Mama” features Emtee and issi. Another standout collaboration, “Umkhonto”, connects Blxckie, Flow Jones Jr., KindlyNxsh and K.Keed.
The album also includes previously released singles “Ntshepe”, featuring Cassper Nyovest, Loatinover Pounds and Sjava, alongside the “Ballon d’Or” remix. Together, the collaborations reflect the duo’s ambition to create a shared space for artists across the South African hip-hop scene.
Ahead of the release, MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe described the project as a contribution to the wider hip-hop community rather than simply a collection of beats and guest appearances.
“This one is for South Ahh. Rush-Awa is here to fill the gap in collaboration in our beloved Hip Hop family. Let’s make Hip-Hop great again. Ke Rush-Awa Jo,” the duo said.
Additional production contributions came from collaborators including CraigCreates, while Glo Thebeatz handled mixing and mastering at Playground Productions.
With “Lapisa” earning gold certification and their debut album now available, Rush-Awa have brought together the commercial success of their single and their broader vision for South African hip-hop. The project places collaboration firmly in the spotlight, giving artists from different backgrounds an opportunity to share the same platform.
Rush-Awa is available now on all major streaming platforms.
