Reason Talks About His Former Stage Name ‘Mad Massacre’ And How His Dad Influenced Him To Change It. Reason during his lengthy career has gone through many things including a few name changes. The rapper currently goes by the name Sizwe Alkaline, for his amapiano music, but before he even became Reason, he went by the name Mad Massacre. It has been years since the rapper even went by the name Mad Massacre but during his interview with Texx Talks, he revealed a little more about his former stage name.

Reason explained to Texx that Mad Massacre is the latest person she would want to introduce to anyone, as he revealed more about the kind of musician his former alias was. Reason shared with Texx why he had chosen the edgy alias, which did not sit well with his father. “The Massacre was actually a battle name. Cause I used to be in the battles, I come from a battle culture, on the underground. At the time I just needed a dangerous name. A name that describes what I’m about to do to the person I was going to battle at the time. So the Mad Massacre was pretty much what we ended up with until my dad heard it.”

Reason went on to add how his Dad influenced him to change the name Mad Massacre. “That kind of changed everything because my Dad was like I see you want to be a musician but why would you want to call yourself a massacre. Do you know what a massacre is and I said, I do. Are you saying they going to say, ‘tonight catch Hugh Masekela Brenda Fassie and The Mad Massacre and I said okay fine you make a good point. So I had to find something to replace that and that’s how Reason came about,” Reason told Texx.

Mad Massacre is not the only alias Reason has gone by during his high school days, the rapper went by “Little Kevy” which was inspired by Little Bow Bow. Texx shared that Reason had wanted to be a child star and loved U.S rapper and actor Bow Bow who gained fame as a child star. “I always had a dream of being a child star. I think Bow Bow kind of made that dream seem possible. You saw Little Bow Bow, Little Romeo and you were like dam, I probably could make it as a kid.”
