The South African Hip Hop culture has seen its fair share of OGs, including those who are recognized as such and others who may have self-proclaimed themselves as the veterans of the game. Taking to Instagram, Stilo Magolide, the renowned rapper who has observed a part of the evolution of the culture, took a moment to speak out about artists in the game who have asserted themselves as OGs.

Stilo emphasized that individuals should refrain from claiming the title of OGs if they haven’t made substantial contributions to the culture, particularly in supporting and fostering the growth of up-and-coming artists.

“Please guys, stop this sh*t, stop claiming you’re OG when you ain’t done sh*t for the kids. Please stop telling them you’re an OG and they must respect you when you’re not OG dawg,Stilo Magolide said. “Other people call you OG, self-proclaimed OG sit down, please guys, it’s getting weird, it’s getting strange, it’s getting cringe. Please get off that higher horse you are nobody’s OG dawg, we dont know you. Honestly, we dont know you, stop trying to be an OG, please.”

Recently, Stogie T who is regarded as an OG of the game took a jab at Rashid Kay after the latter revealed on the Zingah Podcast that Tumi’s previous stage name was Fat Boy. In ruthless clapback, Stogie T said that there is a difference between an OG and someone who is old. “Zingah good luck on the YFM job bro we are all gonna need you to know the difference between an OG and a n**g that is just old, respectfully.”
