Sbuda Roc On The Role Moozlie Played In Launching His Marketing Agency

In a recent interview with ‘To The Max Brand Management’ on YouTube, Sbuda Roc opened up about the pivotal role played by Moozlie in the creation of his company, SBR Projects. Speaking on the origins of his agency, he credited Moozlie as the first person in the music industry to put her full trust in his ability, marking a turning point in his career.

“Moozlie was the first person in music to have full confidence in me and my ability, and that absolutely changed my life because that’s when I started working for myself fully and that’s actually when music started paying me,” Sbuda Roc said during the interview.

He shared that their professional relationship began in 2014 when Moozlie approached him for management support. At the time, she was still developing her music career, and his input quickly became an essential part of her decision-making process. According to Sbuda, “Me and Nomoozlie started talking in 2014 when she said she needed a manager and she would take my advice really seriously, and I think at that time, VG was looking at her to rap. So I think six months before she signed to CashTime, we made our thing official, and I think that was the reason SBR Projects was born.”

SBR Projects was officially established in 2015, designed initially as a talent management agency. Sbuda explained that the agency was created out of a need to operate within the music industry in a more structured and independent way. “Because I needed a structure to be able to house in the music and entertainment space,” he said.

According to Sbuda, Moozlie was the only artist on SBR Projects for the first four years and this allowed the team to fully focus on building her brand and testing their management approach. “We perfected our thing with Mooz. She was doing music, she was an entertainer all round, creative, so we kinda perfected that, built our credibility, and by the time we took on another artist, it was around 2019, 2020. We signed Costa Titch,” Sbuda said.

At the time their partnership began, Moozlie had already made a name for herself in television after winning the MTV Base VJ Search in 2012. She had presenting stints with MTV Base, Vuzu, and Channel O. Her transition into music became more serious around 2014, which aligned with the beginning of her working relationship with Sbuda. After a short period with CashTime Life, she chose to continue as an independent artist, officially launching her own label, Nomuzi Mabena Music, in 2017 under the management of SBR Projects.

That same year, she released her debut mixtape Versus, followed by her studio album Victory in 2018. Her influence extended into fashion and lifestyle, taking on creative director roles and collaborating with brands such as Drip and Era by DJ Zinhle.

By 2024, Moozlie featured on the cover of GQ Style South Africa’s 25th anniversary edition, affirming her position in music, fashion, and culture. In 2025, she returned to the music scene with the single Go Getter, marking her first solo release in several years.
