Nyovest addressed the controversy in a strongly worded post on X, accusing some content creators of becoming increasingly insensitive in their pursuit of entertainment and engagement.

“These niggas are so insensitive and it’s intentional. They know there are no repercussions!!! They say anything about anyone all in the name of content and the damage is immeasurably catastrophic. A mother to an 8 year old was killed and there isn’t anything funny about that,” he wrote.

His comments follow renewed attention around a clip from Podcast and Chill, where Phenduka and MacG discussed the disappearance of a woman who had been reported missing. The conversation included laughter and jokes about the situation.

The woman was later identified as runner Elizabeth Ntsontso, also referred to in reports as Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo. She was subsequently found dead in Kempton Park. She was also a mother to an eight-year-old child.

The resurfaced clip has since drawn criticism online, particularly because the discussion took place around a real missing-person case that ultimately ended in tragedy. The circumstances have added weight to concerns about how sensitive subjects involving missing people and victims are handled on entertainment platforms.

Nyovest’s reaction extends beyond the specific podcast clip. His post questioned the broader culture of content creation, particularly where controversial remarks can generate attention without the people behind them appearing to face meaningful consequences.

The rapper argued that the human cost of such content can be far greater than the engagement it generates, especially when the subject involves a family dealing with the loss of a loved one.

His comments sparked widespread discussion on social media, with some users agreeing that entertainment should not come at the expense of empathy. Others brought up controversies involving Nyovest himself, creating a broader debate about accountability and consistency among public figures. At the centre of the discussion, however, is the tragedy involving a mother whose death left behind an eight-year-old child.

The case has also renewed conversations around the safety of women in South Africa, with reports stating that Ntsontso went out for a run and did not return home. Her death has since prompted calls for justice and support for her family.

Cassper Nyovest’s post has therefore become part of a much larger conversation about the responsibilities that come with having a large audience and the line between provocative entertainment and insensitive commentary.
