The Big Hash Celebrates Rush-Awa’s Debut Album: “Huge Win For Hip Hop”

The Big Hash Celebrates Rush-Awa’s Debut Album: “Huge Win For Hip Hop.” The Big Hash has added his voice to the growing conversation surrounding Rush-Awa’s self-titled debut album, which brings together an impressive lineup of local hip-hop talent.

The 15-track project marks a major release for production duo MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe, showcasing their collaborative approach to the genre. In a post on X that linked to the project on Apple Music, The Big Hash wrote, “This album is such a huge win for Hip Hop!”
The endorsement comes as production duo Rush-Awa, made up of MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe, unveil their 15-track debut album. Released across streaming platforms, the project brings together an impressive lineup of South African hip-hop artists, highlighting the talent and diversity shaping the country’s rap scene.
The album follows a steady rollout of singles throughout 2026, with MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe building anticipation through collaborations that offered a glimpse of their creative direction. “Lapisa,” featuring Lowfeye, LaCabra and Dolphin_DX, arrived in June and went on to earn gold certification. The duo followed it with “Ntshepe” in August, bringing together Loatinover Pounds, Sjava and Cassper Nyovest. A remix of “Ballon d’Or” featuring Focalistic and MfanaTouchLine added to the momentum ahead of the full release.
On the album, Rush-Awa extend that collaborative approach across a tracklist packed with established names and emerging voices. “Chocolate 2by2” features 25K, Blxckie and Maglera Doe Boy, while “Streetz” brings together Blxckie, Nasty C and Usimamane. Elsewhere, Emtee and issi join forces on “Mama,” while “Umkhonto” features Blxckie, Flow Jones Jr., KindlyNxsh and K.Keed.
The project closes with “Pray 4 It,” featuring 25K, Mochen, Saint Cielo and Thato Saul. Additional appearances from Danya Devs, FLVME, Wordz and BABYLOWSK1 further expand the album’s reach, giving listeners a broad selection of voices and styles across its 15 tracks.
The Big Hash’s recognition adds another notable endorsement to the release. Known for projects such as Heartbreak Hotel and PRESS HASH: VOLUME ONE, the rapper has also explored collaborative territory through Love Is A Star, his project with Sly and Kabza De Small. His reaction to Rush-Awa’s debut places the album within a wider conversation about the value of collaboration in South African music.
For MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe, the project brings together artists from different corners of the local scene under one production banner. Rather than centring on a single rapper, the album gives multiple performers room to contribute to a shared creative vision, with the production duo connecting different sounds and generations of hip-hop talent.
With The Big Hash publicly backing the release, Rush-Awa’s debut has received recognition from one of the scene’s established voices. His description of the album as a “huge win” captures the significance of a project that puts collaboration at the centre of its approach to South African hip-hop.
