Riky’s friends and the SA hip-hop giants took time to remember his efforts and contribution to the game with a lively and memorable performance. The likes of A-Reece, Shishiliza, Stogie T, Venom, Buzzi Lee, Tshego and Raspy graced the SAMAs28 stage with a tribute to Boss Zonke dubbed “Revolution Of Hip Hop.”

In a bid to remember Boss Zonke, the big-name artists performed some of Riky Rick’s biggest songs in SA Hip hop. They lit up the stage with hit songs including; Boss Zonke, Stay Shinning, Family Values and Sondela. Themba, the younger brother of Riky, performed Sidlukotini with enthusiasm and vigour, just as Riky used to perform it live on stage.

Riky always pours his heart out when it comes to music and it didn’t matter whether the song is for groove or life lessons. The late rapper also did the same when it comes to his mental health and the only way he could send his message was through his music.

“All this pressure gonna be the death of me,” he rapped in his song “Home”

“Fake love killing my energy… pour some liquor for all my dead homies. RIP I’ll see you there homies.” In the other part of the song, Boss Zonke stated about his suicidal thoughts, “Sometimes I feel like I wanna leave it, if I leave then who they gonna believe in?” “How they gonna receive it?”

His untimely passing shocked Mzansi, and the outpouring of mourning demonstrates just how much of an influence he had on the country’s culture.
