Burna Boy‘s relationship with South Africans has evolved into a complex mix of admiration and criticism, and the announcement of the cancellation of his FNB concert was met with a sense of relief by many in Mzansi.

In response to the celebrations surrounding the cancellation of his show, the Nigerian superstar took to Instagram to assert that no negative intentions directed towards him would succeed. “I was in SA last year and I had 100 Thousand of the most Beautiful South Africans Outside for me, so no dead agenda can Agend. I will see you again real soon South Africa I love you,” wrote Burna Boy.

Nevertheless, Burna Boy’s comments predominantly drew scrutiny from the followers and supporters of the late rapper AKA. Among those who took issue with the Nigerian artist’s remarks is Supa Mega’s girlfriend, Nadia Nakai.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Nadia expressed anger towards Burna Boy as she insinuated that the “dead agenda” remarks might’ve been directed to the late Kiernan Forbes. “Am I being sensitive? What does he mean by Dead Agenda?!!” Wrote Nadia Nakai.

In the period leading up to AKA’s passing, his relationship with Burna Boy had been tumultuous, with the two unable to see eye to eye. However, the latter penned a tribute song to the late AKA which garnered mixed reactions and mostly it angered South Africans.

In the song, Burna Boy took a moment to address their feud and also conveyed his deep sorrow at the tragic manner in which his former friend lost his life. He shared his sentiments about no longer maintaining a friendly relationship with AKA but emphasized that he harboured no ill wishes towards him, let alone desiring any harm or death.
