K.O Reacts To SETE’s Copyright Allegation. K.O. was mired in a social media drama after fans discovered a song named “Feeling for You” by Ghanaian singer Reefer Tym that has the same beat as “Sete.”

K.O Reacts To SETE’s Copyright Allegation

“Feeling for You” was released in May of last year, roughly three months before K.O’s “Sete” was aired. The song, which also stars Blxckie and Young Stunna, has now broken a number of records on the radio, YouTube, and other digital streaming services.

In a bid to refute the plagiarism allegation against the song, K.O. took to Twitter and clarified that he did not copy anyone’s song rather he bought the beat online. The rapper admitted that he discovered that the beat has been used with other artists and went as far as replacing other elements to make the beat sounds unique.

UPDATE: Pt. 1: How artists/beatmakers collab in today’s largely virtual music industry… I bought the #SETE beat on an online platform via @Calliemajik ‘s page (original producer). Discovered other artists had used it so we replaced some of the sounds to make mine unique,” he wrote in a Twitter thread.

The seasoned rapper continued by claiming that his sound is his own property. According to K.O., the fact that he purchased the beat prevents other musicians who utilize it from suing him. “Pt. 2: I hold full Unlimited Rights to the License of the instrumental I bought which is why the artists who also put out their own versions rightfully cannot disputed mine cos we’re all governed by the same or lesser Copyright. Normal practice in today’s music world Dankie,” he tweeted.

This is not the first time K.O. has addressed how he got the beat on SETE. In an interview with DJ Sbu, the rapper revealed the hassles that he had to go through until the found the beat for SETE.

“Initially that was a beat I picked for another track I had on my album called ‘Demon’ featuring a young artist from Nigeria who’s doing amazing things right now his name is Ruger,” he said.

“So he was in the country earlier this year so I mean I got a call that I need to pull at the studio he wanted to link up, so I didn’t have a track, I was ready you know to pull for us to work on. So that night I actually reached out to a gang of producers you know locally and internationally for like a solid 12 hours straight trying to find a beat, eventually, I found the Sete beat,” said K.O
