Top 10 Things You Didn't Know About SA Hip Hop

1. P.O.C was the first crew from SA to win an international award in Canada. They also went on a World Tour with Public Enemy and James Brown.
2. Skwatta Kamp went platinum when it was still 50 000 copies (now it’s 30 000). Pitch Black Afro is still the only SA Hip Hop artist to sell double platinum (100 000 units).
3. POC, Tumi, Ben Sharpa, Driemanskap…have been touring overseas for over 10 years.
5. Skwatta Kamp and HHP had endorsements like 10 years ago.
6. The first time Yfm had 1 million listeners was on a Wednesday during Rap Activity Jam. Today they have less than a million.
7. HHP was the first Hip Hop artist to win “Best Male” award at the SAMAs in 2008.
8. Amu and Psyfo acted on Generations.
9. Zuluboy presented (and still) on radio and TV.
10. Skwatta Kamp collaborated with a US artist in 2005.
