AKA might have created a lot of controversial moments in the SA hip-hop game, but the rapper was appreciated by those who adored his art and contribution to the hip-hop culture. Taking to Twitter, radio personality and SA hip-hop veteran Sizwe Dhlomo has recalled the moment he shared with Kiernan Forbes.

The veteran rapper recalled the moment he had with AKA as the late rapper was the first guest on the Kaya Drive radio show. “Two & a half years ago, when I had just started #KayaDrive, we had @AKAWorldWide as the first guest on the show. Here is that interview,” tweeted Sizwe.

In the interview, AKA explained the controversial moments he had with fans and other artists such as Burna Boy. The rapper said that there was a miscommunication between him and Burna Boy during xenophobia in South Africa.

For me, I think it’s really a miscommunication, a miscommunication came about with the whole xenophobic episode that was happening in our country. You know I would never ever been one to mince my words when it comes to patriotism in South Africa,” he said.

Today, family and friends will gather to remember the much-loved AKA. The memorial service will be held at Johannesburg’s Sandton Convention Centre.
