Hennessy Back To The City Announces This Year’s Festival Theme. Despite experiencing unfortunate incidents, including the loss of prominent rappers, the SA Hip-hop scene continues to shine with a glimmer of optimism. This optimism is rooted in acknowledging the accomplishments the genre has amassed over the course of four decades.
In celebrating a massive milestone within the hip-hop culture worldwide, Back To The City revealed its theme for this year’s event – “50 Years of Hip Hop”/ 40 Years of S.A Hip Hop.” The announcement comes as a delightful surprise to festival-goers who eagerly await each year’s unique theme that is set to celebrate both local and international Hip-hop icons. This year will be quite special as Hip-hop turns 50 years with SA Hip-hop stamping in with 40 years of immense contribution to the culture.
