In a recent interview, Duplessis, who just won the UFC Championship and who is fearless inside the octagon didn’t hold back when he expressed his dissatisfaction with the state of affairs in South Africa. “I would say our government is far ahead as being the worst government in the world,” Duplessis said.

The athlete’s criticism towards the government sparked a series of reactions from citizens, including the renowned hip-hop artist Stilo Magolide. The famed rapper took to TikTok to address Duplessis’ remarks, expressing his disappointment with the UFC fighter’s assessment of the South African government.

“I just watched this interview with Duplessis and I’m very disappointed, Duplessis my brother shoutout for winning the belt but that’s not how you do it,” said Stilo Magolide. “Love that fellow country, love that country, respect that government. It might not be the best, but that’s not your position to speak on first and foremost because fair enough you are just a fighter and this is your first championship respectfully.

“I wish you more and I wish you all the best but you can’t expect the world to respect you if you dont respect your own country. At this point we should be asking you, would you like to change your nationality because we dont mind we can revolt against it,” Stilo added.

The “Day Off” hitmaker emphasized that Duplessis should exercise caution in his criticism, pointing out that South Africa is not exclusively a white people’s country. The majority of the population is black, including the government that Duplessis is criticizing.

“You represent your country fully at all times and your country is not white South Africa alone, the majority of South Africa is black. So when you speak of the government you speak of black people, be very mindful of the things you say and how you say them about the country.”
