During an interview with Break Room Africa, J Molley took us aback at what he went through that led him to suffer from depression. The rapper revealed that he has been an anxious person way before he became a rapper and that worked against him when he became famous.

The rapper has admitted that there was a point when he had to abuse booze and drugs in order to manage his anxieties so that he can perform at concerts.

It all happened really quickly, one minute I was making music on Soundcloud and the next I was performing at venues all over South Africa. I’ve always been a naturally anxious person. It got to the point that I needed to be drunk or high to just manage my nerves about being on stage.” He said.

Mzansi was worried about rapper J Molley’s health last year. Several tweets from the “On Camera” star hinted at mental depression. His management later stated that he would be taking a break from the music business as well as from social media.

J Molley is not totally recovered, but he has discussed how he is taking care of himself and he introduced new habits for his own recovery, such as composing music for his fans and eating healthily. “Firstly a diet that I fell off of for the last two weeks. Then, mixing medication with therapy, working out, and focusing on the music once again.” Said J Molley during an interview with Break Room Africa.
