Gigi Lamayne On How She Landed An International Feature. Landing an international feature is still a big deal for local artists, it doesn’t only gain them international fans but sets the bar high for their status.
Gigi Lamayne is one of the latest South African rappers to score an international feature. Usually we don’t get much stories of how these features start, but we were lucky enough to hear Lamayne share her story with Daily Sun.
“We met through Monde Thwala, I checked her out on social media and I liked her. I liked the kind of a person she is and what she stood for. I had always wanted to go all over the world and rap, so here was this opportunity in front of me and I took it.
“So I traveled to Antlanta, in the United States of America and we recorded the song. Ths music video was also recorded in Antlanta we will release it soon. This is my best music video to date,” she said speaking to the publication.
She went on to add that she plans on working with more artists from overseas.
“Although I’ve worked with artists from outside of Mzansi before, this was my first American feature and I enjoyed it. I plan on working with more artists from there, Europe too. I think it’s time I expand my brand and go out of Africa.”
The new single is titled Mojo Jojo and is available for download on all digital platforms.
