Interview With Mr Basadi Lection
Eversince he exploded on to the scene, Lection has been putting in work and it has become hard to deny that he has one of the sickest flows the game has lived to see. The Maftown rapper aka Mr Basadi is one of the top rappers in the game and we finally got the chance to interview him.
How would you best describe Lection?
I’m a perfectionist and like order.
What does the name Lection represent?
It’s derived from all my names Lekhonkhobe – lek | thebe – t | jairus – i | solomon – on = lek/ction.
How did Basadi change your career?
It really created platforms and lotta business came my way.
What music did you listen to growing up?
Just about everything as long as it sounded good and caught an ear.
How has being a father changed your perspective on art, life and immortality?
Freedom of expression is well expressed artistically so if my Son finds comfort in taking that route then I’ll be more than happy to encourage it, having a child puts lotta focus in everything you do.
How do you prepare for your shows? Do you have any rituals you perform to help get in the zone?
I just need to be an hour early before my performance to learn the crowd and know exactly what I’m dealing with.
Where did you draw the inspiration for your new single Drop It?
I’ve always wanted to have a club banger that can accommodate both through djs and music lovers.
What are your thoughts on the current state of the game?
Hip-hop is doing good, it’s at a good state.
What issues are you most concerned about in the industry?
Radio compilers who overlook artists they don’t know and promoters who take advantage of artists.

When should we expect a full length project from you?
As soon as there’s enough demand I’ll drop an album.

I don’t go out much so I wouldn’t know..my hangout spot is the studio.
