Priddy Ugly Reflects on a Quiet Creative Year

Priddy Ugly has opened up about his low musical output in 2024, sharing personal insights into his absence from the spotlight. The artist took to his Instagram Stories recently to reflect on what has been a quiet creative year, marked by a shift in focus toward personal growth and well-being.

Priddy Ugly revealed that he has not released any music since January 2024, confirming that the past several months have been centered around areas outside of the studio. “This year, the focus has been on family, health & overall wellness. Gearing up to release soon. Thank you for your patience,” he wrote.

The rapper also expressed regret over not engaging with his supporters during this period, issuing a heartfelt apology to fans who may have reached out and received no response. “Any supporter who sent me a heartfelt message & got no response – I’m sorry,” he shared.

He further elaborated on his desire to be more present in his personal life, indicating that this has impacted both his professional and personal commitments. “I’ve been trying to be present in my real life, and on many occasions, I’ve not gotten back to someone, whether it is business or personal,” he explained. “I’m not making excuses, I’m really just human & trying to be the best version of that I could possibly be, especially for my loved ones.”

In a candid moment, Priddy Ugly acknowledged that he has not felt creatively motivated this year. “Haven’t been entirely motivated to keep creative & productive this year. Sitting on a lot of unreleased & unfinished works,” he stated. Despite the challenges, he made it clear that he remains in good spirits, writing, “I’m okay, blessed and grateful.”

He also addressed the impact that private struggles can have on professional output, saying, “Sometimes the issues we deal with in the background can affect our output & how we navigate life & career. Our job is to just keep showing up.”

Priddy Ugly revealed he has not been in studio for several months. “Last time I recorded any work of my own was in March,” he shared. He confirmed that some of the material from that period will be included in his upcoming release. “You’ll hear some of that in the deluxe that I’ll be dropping soon.”

In a recent interview with DJ Fresh on the WAW Podcast, Priddy Ugly confirmed that the deluxe edition of his album DUST is scheduled for release on September 26, 2024. He said, “I got a deluxe, the deluxe version of my album Dust just to celebrate the plaques, the gold and platinum plaques. You’ll be getting snippets here and there and we got a documentary dropping very, very soon.”

He also reflected on his pattern of stepping away from music when needed, stating, “I’ve been one to take breaks & be away from the only thing I know how to do well.”
