The track takes clear inspiration from the 2005 house classic “Summer Rain” by the late iconic producer Bojo Mujo, a beloved anthem in South African dance music.
“I was just bumping that song sometime last year, and I was like, damn, actually, I can make something out of this,” Ndu Browns recalled. The idea took shape during a trip to Durban, where he crafted the beat and laid down the hook. He then sent it to Danya Devs, who returned his vocals in less than three days.
“He went crazy, didn’t take him even less than three days, sent me back, and I was like, we got a classic,” Ndu Browns said, beaming with excitement.
Summer Rain (Phuma Langa) fuses smooth Afro-pop melodies with R&B-infused vocals while paying homage to nostalgic house sounds. The Zulu title, Phuma Langa, which translates to “come out, sun,” captures the song’s themes of renewal, warmth, and good times, making it a perfect anthem for lingering summer vibes.
Having steadily built his solo catalogue after his debut single Ubuhle Bakho, Ndu Browns expressed his delight at the release. “But yeah, most importantly, the song is out,” he said.
Fans will also get a visual treat soon. “Probably we’re gonna be dropping a video next week on Friday,” he teased, hinting at an official music video that promises to amplify the track’s sunny energy.
