Reason Explains The Inspiration Behind His New Release ‘After Tears’ Reason eventually released a new song ‘After Tears’ after earning a recording agreement with Warner Music Africa.

The single was recorded last year, but it has now become a personal prophecy following the deaths of Riky Rick and DJ Dimplez, two of his industry colleagues.. “I’ve always believed music to be reflective of the human experience,“ Reason, said.

In a statement published on Music In Africa, Reason further mentioned that he had no idea that the song will mean something following the passing of his industry friends.

 “[At] the time of recording, I had no idea that the song would hit home for me, having encountered multiple losses in a personal capacity.” He said.

Despite the song’s relevance with Riky and Dimplez’s deaths, the rapper stated that its primary goal was to soothe individuals who had lost loved ones to the pandemic and to communicate the South African tale.

“This song is an ode to all those who have passed on, something we’ve all experienced, particularly during the pandemic. My music continues to tell our stories and heal us.” He said. Reason wasn’t the only one who connected with the song during its creation; Boohle, who collaborated with the rapper on ‘After Tears’, said she could relate to the song from the first time she heard the vocals.

“I heard the song and could immediately relate. The first vocal that I’d recorded somehow went missing, and Sizwe waited for me to return from my trip to London to rerecord. This is a big song that’s relevant to the times we’re living in.” Boohle said.
