Meek Mill Reveals Plans To Record His Next Album In Africa

Meek Mill Reveals Plans To Record His Next Album In Africa. Hold onto your durags, Philly! Meek Mill is switching up his scenery for his next project. While fellow rapper Rick Ross recently announced his solo album “Champagne Moments,” he also spilt the tea on a separate venture: a whole album recorded in Africa featuring African artists.

According to HipHopDX, Ross mentioned collaborating with a star-studded list of African musicians, including Stonebwoy, Yemi Alade, Diamond Platnumz, and Shacko. But here’s the kicker: he aspires to make it a continent-wide affair, recording “12 different songs, 12 different countries, 12 different artists.”

However, taking to Twitter (X), Meek Mill seems to be following a similar route though it has a different component as he is setting to be on the ground in the African soil. The Philadelphia-born rapper said that he will stay in Africa for 2 weeks with his producers and make music. “Ima go to Africa and record my next album! Stay for 2 weeks bring my producers my art and mash up!!!” Meek Mill said.

While Meek Mill has not disclosed plans for collaborations with African artists, his history of working with talent from the continent suggests strong potential for future collaborations. The rapper has expressed his admiration for Ghana and his desire to have Ghana citizenship. “I wanna get citizenship in Ghana!!!! America made to tear black men down if you don’t follow orders!” Meek Mill said.

Despite South African Hip Hop’s prominent standing across the African continent, none of the country’s rappers featured on Meek Mill’s “Expensive Pain” album. This time around, SA Hip Hop fans will be keeping their fingers crossed to have some SA rappers on the US rapper’s forthcoming body of work since it is being recorded close to home.
